Beekeeping Policy

The Beekeeping sector in Tanzania has been managed without a policy since 1949 when it was officially formed as a department under Agriculture. The guidance for developing and managing the bee and beefodder resources since then has been in the form of technical and administrative orders and directives whose main objectives were to modernize beekeeping practices by introducing box hives; to maximize production of honey and beeswax, and to increase export earning from sales of honey and beeswax.
